Being pretty much useless, allows one to really reflect on the little things they take for granted every day. Using the bathroom, taking a shower, putting on clothes. These are things most of us deal with on a daily basis not being truly grateful for these seemingly small tasks. When you have these trivial basic human functions stripped away you begin to wonder what is it that you do that makes you who you are.

Dependency on any level is powerless. Needing someone to put your clothes on. Needing someone to get you water. Needing someone to do the basic things that makes us human is an almost murderous feeling. I fancy myself as that last soldier on the field of battle who would rather die where I lay trying to drag my body across the field by my hands and arms than to be hauled away putting more and more lives in danger.

I would rather wither away on my own accord as to not be the the bump in the road for someone else.

So save yourself and leave me to die. There is no need for multiple casualties.

I am lost in my own thoughts. University of Southern California? University of Oklahoma? Who the hell are they? No conference matches up with the SEC. My challenge is to the powers they be who make the decisions on who plays for the National Championship. I know it's still early in the season however I feel the only teams that should be playing for the title should both come from the SEC. Oklahoma and SC have no other competition. On any given Saturday either one could lose to Vanderbilt, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss. You get the picture. Hey USC and Oklahoma, travel on down south for a couple of weekends. I guarantee neither would have an undefeated season. I mean come on, USC holding a number one spot for as long as they did. Was losing to Stanford and then Oregon State not enough to open their freggin eyes?!??!? So no matter which team is your favorite in the SEC, just remember as a whole we dominate.

"Ode to the BLOG..."

I blogged with a blogger about blogging.
We blog about bloggers who blog.
For those of you who don't know about blogging,
A blogger is a person who blogs.
Because we blogged about blogging
I have something to blog in my blog.

"Reflections of the way life use to be..."

As the number of years I have spent on this planet nears the order of 30, often have I been reflecting on the past. I will make note that this doesn't mean lamenting. As we go through the natural stages of life we make various choices along the way. Some good. Some bad. Some really really bad. I think of accepting admissions to MSMS. I think of not completing all of my college applications. I think of losing my academic scholarship during my undergraduate tenure. I think of the way too many shots and the way too many missed classes. We must remember all these choices good or bad are paths that lead us to were we stand today. When I ponder about the choices and descisions I made I often think of the last stanza of Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". It states, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Although I took the road less travelled it was the correct path for me. Of course that's not to say that all the immature actions I took over the years were great decisions. But the immaturity was necessary for me to grouw to be who I am today. Tis better to err in adolecense than to err in adulthood. So if you ask, have I any regrets? Would I change my life, the choices I made, the people I surrounded myself with? Not for one damn second!

Here's to another 30 more years!!

The Travelling Salesman....

is a problem in combinatorial optimization. This problem is classified as NP-Hard (nondeterministic polynomial-time hard). Or simply put really freaking hard!!! Nonetheless it states that given a number of cities and the costs of traveling from any city to any other city, what is the least-cost round-trip route that visits each city exactly once and then returns to the starting city?

If we view this as a weighted graph problem we can find solutions for specific cases using what is known as the "Greedy Algorithm" This is a heuristic algorithm yielding sub-optimal solutions. For all intensive purposes is sufficient.

One thing I have noticed about this method is that we assume these structures are abelian (commutative) in nature. What this means is we assume that we actually can go from point "a" to point "b" and also from point "b" to point "a",i.e the direction I travel is not determined. What always struck me as an interesting corollary is what if some of these were non-abelian or (non-commutative) i.e "one way" streets. Essentially in some areas,in terms of Graph Theory, we have "Digraphs". How is the "Greedy Algorithm" applied? Moreover can assuming non-abelian allow for polynomial time solutions?

When Everyone around you seems to be in slow motion...

Have you ever found yourself wondering why world and the people around you are so oblivious? Sometimes you wish you had a remote so you could press "ffwd". I have often found myself feeling drowned by ineptitude.
